1993 Girls Basketball
The 1993 Girls Basketball Team was the first West Fargo High School girls basketball team to win a state championship title. The Packers finished with a regular season record of 17-5. The team finished second to Fargo South High School in the Eastern Dakota Conference Championship game. The state tournament was a nail biter with a first-round win against St. Mary’s and a 1-point overtime win against Central in the semifinals. The state championship game featured a cross-town rivalry with Fargo North High School, ending in a final score of 55 to 33. Three players were named to the All-EDC Team (Jennifer Rud, Nicole Vetter, and Nichole Walla), 1 player was selected to the 2nd All-State Team (Nicole Vetter), Three players were selected to the State All-Tournament Team (Kara Thulin, Leah Tilly, Nichole Walla), and Coach Collette Folstad was named EDC Coach of the Year and ND Coach of the Year. The team was awarded the state academic award for earning a team GPA of 3.2 or above.
