Nancy Jordheim

Nancy Johnson Jordheim is the daughter of Roy and Louise Johnson. She was born in Fargo, ND, began school in Carrington, ND and graduated from West Fargo High, as did her brothers, Roy and Chuck.

Nancy attended North Dakota State University, majoring in English and Speech. After marrying Neil Jordheim, they moved to Mesa, Arizona where she taught 8th grade and completed her Masters in Reading Education at Arizona State University. They returned to Fargo where she taught at West Fargo High, Concordia College, and Fargo South High School while completing a second masters in Counseling as well as obtaining a ND administrative licensure. Having served as a teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal and Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources with the Fargo Public Schools, Nancy retired from education in 2014.

Nancy chose education as her vocation because it provided abundant opportunities to serve the communities’ youth. A belief in the positive nature of all people, when treated with dignity and respect resulted in part as being identified as the ND Student Council Advisor of the Year, the YWCA Woman of the Year in education, and Fargo Kiwanis’ first Advocate of the Child award recipient. Her service orientation has gone beyond regional education as she has served on local and national boards for teacher accreditation, nursing education, and public health organizations. Nancy was the first female President of the NDSU Alumni Association and received the Heritage Award for service from her alma mater. She has energetically served numerous community non-profit organizations including HERO, United Blood Services, Meritcare Health Care System, City of Fargo Civil Service, and the FargoDome Authority to name a few. In retirement, her commitment to mental health and youth has been paramount. She is a founding member and past president of Imagine Thriving.

Reading, travel, and supporting the continuous development of their children and grandchildren keep Nancy and Neil busy and joyful.
