Nancy Peterson
Nancy Peterson taught at West Fargo High School (WFHS) from 1973-2007 in the special education department primarily as a LD (learning disabilities) teacher. As a teacher she co-taught Developmental English I, II, III, Developmental Physical Science and Basic Consumer Math. Also, while teaching she was a cheerleader advisor (football, basketball, and hockey), pep club advisor, yearbook advisor, and dance chaperone. She also served on the NCA accreditation committee and numerous district wide committees. She has also helped to score numerous Packer Relays. She started doing the book for both girls’ and boys’ basketball in the early 1990’s. She also did the shot clock when it was introduced into North Dakota. She transitioned into just doing the book and still does. She has done the book at both EDC and state basketball tournaments. She also has done the book for both NDSU Men and Women’s Basketball.
Nancy also does the scoreboard at WFHS softball games. Once she retired from WFHS, she worked at the GED program assisting adults earn their high school diploma. She also substituted at the Adult ESL program.
She was an active member of the West Fargo Education Association (WFEA) serving on numerous committees as well as local president twice for a total of 6 years. She was appointed to the Instructional and Professional Development committee for North Dakota Education Association (NDEA now NDU) for six years. She later was elected to the Board of Directors for two three-year terms. She also attended 15 National Education Association national conventions held during the summer for 7- 10 days. Once retired she served on the NDU-Retired Board of Directors for 12 Years.
Locally she volunteers as a Proclaimer, Eucharistic Minister, and other activities at Blessed Sacrament Church. She has worked as an election clerk at local and state elections since 2007. Both Nancy and her husband, Terry E Peterson, have assisted the Metro Tournament Committees by working at EDC and State tournaments since 2007. Nancy has also been a spotter at several Dakota Bowl tournaments. Nancy is married to Terry E Peterson and has two children Brant (Tera Malheim) and Erika (Todd) Steenerson.
