Nicole Vetter Peterson
Nicole (Nikki) Vetter Peterson grew up in West Fargo, ND and graduated from West Fargo High School in 1996. As a Packer student-athlete, Nikki participated in volleyball and basketball. She played on the 1993 ND State Champion Girls’ Basketball team and received various volleyball and basketball awards; to include selection to the all-state basketball team. After graduation, Nikki attended Concordia College, Moorhead, MN where she received her B.A. in Physical Education. She later earned her M.Ed. at North Dakota State University, specializing in Curriculum and Instruction. Nikki taught Physical Education, Health,and Dance at West Fargo High School until 2020. Prior to teaching at WFHS, she taught K-10 Physical Education and Health at Henning Public School in Henning, MN. During that time Nikki coached volleyball and girls’ basketball at the high school varsity and sub-varsity levels.
In 2010, Nikki began teaching social dance and dance fitness classes at WFHS. While her dance background was limited, Nikki attended workshops and lessons to improve her skills. She was able to attend the National SHAPE convention in Indianapolis and Minneapolis, as well as the National Dance Education Organization National Convention in Chicago. Nikki became active with many dance groups in Fargo to learn how to design fun dance curriculums for her students.
Nikki is a member of SHAPE America, National Dance Education Organization,Fargo Salsa Dance Club, Northern Lights Ballroom Dance Club, Lindy Hop of the North, and is a licensed Zumba instructor. She has presented at state and national SHAPE conferences, as well as the Inaugural SHAPE SEL Conference. Nikki was named West Fargo Public Schools Professional/Licensed Staff Member of the Year (2018-2019), as well as Cass County Co-teacher of the Year (2018-2019). In 2019, Nikki was named SHAPE America’s National DanceTeacher of the Year. Nikki and her husband Trevor live in West Fargo with their very active twin-daughters, Braelyn and Camryn.
