Packer Backers

The West Fargo Packer Backers were established in the early 1970’s with the first official meeting held in August 1973. The Packer Backers were established to support, encourage and assist the students participating in extracurricular activities at the West Fargo High School. Packer Backers consist of parents and community volunteers who dedicate their time and support at events, athletic games and matches, the arts and other programs affiliated with the West Fargo High School.

Through the years the Packer Backers have grown their impact and support to now include athletics, speech, debate, drama, music, theater, technology, publications, science Olympiad, Close-up, Packer Pride awards, Jr. ROTC, student congress, post-prom and post- graduation parties. Additionally, funds generated by the Packer Backers help defray students’ activity expenses and purchase equipment when there is insufficient funding available through the school. Recent larger school culture and facility improvement projects have included: light pole banners, football/soccer/track & field enhancements, gym wall pads and video board, concession stand renovations to include a second concession stand, Packer Pride t-shirts for all students and staff beginning in 2016, and Packer Pride social events.

The Packer Backers are committed to making West Fargo High School the best it can be and works diligently to raise funds to support their needs. Major sources of funding for their efforts are annual Packer Backers membership fees, sponsor signage and advertisements from area businesses, the annual Packer Backers Golf Tournament, fundraising events, selling concessions, and donations. For their efforts over the last 45 years, the Packer Backers have given over $1M. Their efforts have greatly impacted tens of thousands of students at West Fargo High School. The Packer Backers dedication to WFHS is the true embodiment of Packer Pride.
