Polly D. Ames
In 1944, Mrs. Ames earned her Degree in Education from North Dakota State University. She went on to earn her Master’s degree from North Dakota State University. Her teaching career brought her to West Fargo High School where she taught English from 1959-1969. She continued until her retirement in 1989 at Ben Franklin Junior High. A scholarship was started in her honor by one of her students Jim Thompson. While at West Fargo High School she also supervised the foreign exchange student program. Polly D. Ames is said to have brought to life the great works of her favorite writers. She is remembered by her students as an inspirational teacher who cared deeply.
