Rashid’s Para To Teacher Journey

Meet Rashid Ibrahim

Rashid Ibrahim is originally from Kenya and came to West Fargo in 2016, where he began working as a paraprofessional at West Fargo High School. He initially expected to work primarily with white students but was surprised to meet students from many diverse backgrounds.

When Rashid heard about a new program sponsored by the West Fargo Area Education Foundation (WFAEF) in partnership with Minot State University, he saw an opportunity to further his career. The program allows eligible paraprofessionals to complete a bachelor’s degree, and since Rashid had previously been a teacher in Kenya, he applied. In 2020, he was awarded the Program for Inclusive Education Scholarship, which enabled him to pursue a degree in Special Education and Math at Minot State University.

Rashid completed his student teaching at Cheney Middle School in the fall of 2024.

Congratulations, Rashid, on accepting a full-time teaching assignment at Cheney Middle School!
