Tom Kirchoffner

Tom Kirchoffner was born to Lucas & Hazel Kirchoffner in Devils Lake, ND. Tom graduated from West Fargo High School in 1964. He was a 3-sport athlete for the Packers in football, basketball, and track & field. He was the season record holder for points in basketball and also held the long jump record for over 20 years. Tom graduated from Valley City State University with degrees in Social Studies and Physical Education. While at VCSU, he was a 4- year letter winner in basketball and track. He was inducted three times in the Valley City State Hall of Fame – once as an individual and twice with his teams of 1965 & 1966. 

 

Tom taught for 41 years at Simle Middle School in Bismarck, ND and coached basketball, middle school football, and high school track during his time in the Bismarck school district. He was the head men’s basketball coach at Bismarck State College where his teams won four Jr. College state titles and reached the Jr. College Nationals. He was named 1987 regional XII Coach of the year. Tom is currently being inducted into the BSC Hall of Fame. He also played amateur softball and basketball. His teams won 22 state titles and he was MVP five times. In 1991, Tom was inducted into the ND Amateur Basketball Hall of Fame, as well as his 1989 team. 

 

Tom came out of retirement and moved to West Fargo to help his son coach the West Fargo Sheyenne Mustangs. Tom was an assistant for six years and helped lead the team to a number one ranking at State before the tournament being postponed in 2020. Tom enjoys time with his wife Connie and their four kids and seven grandchildren.
